Menopause

Menopause can occur for women as early as the thirties or as late as the fifties. At the onset of menopause, the ovaries have ceased adequate production of progesterone and estrogen, and the body is no longer fertile. Due to this change, women can experience a number of uncomfortable symptoms, which can include thinning bones, vaginal dryness, osteoporosis, night sweats, hot flashes, low libido, anxiety, depression and insomnia.

Perimenopause

During perimenopause, the ovaries production of estrogen and progesterone begins to degenerate, and women begin to experience symptoms that include low libido, fatigue, migraines, increased PMS symptoms, headaches, amenorrhea, irregular periods, dysmenorrhea and infertility. This transitional phase typically lasts from three to ten years before menopause begins.
